Anyone know about symbols on rings, or inside bands?

Probably not. Those shapes add a lot of sparkle to a ring, since there's more surface to reflect light, but it doesn't stick out so it's comfortable for the wearer. It's a pretty common shape to add--my parents wedding rings had a couple of those on either side of the gemstone.
