Land surveyors in Oregon?

My husband is a land surveyor, and one day he's thinking about switching his job to the office part of it doing Auto CAD. We live in Orange County, California right now, but have family in Oregon. I know land surveying pretty much flows with the economy - how is it in Oregon? Is it fast, slow, or rollercoaster like? Thanks!
